The goal of the workshop is to discuss the different roles that theory plays in management research, and critically explore the notion of impactful theory. The workshop leaders will provide different perspectives on theory and try to unpack the pathways through which organization theory can have an impact on wider society. The workshop will contain sessions on: What constitutes a theoretical contribution? How do you contribute to management theory through qualitative research methods? What role does theory play in management practice, and how is theory disseminated to practitioners?
Speakers; professor Martin Kilduff (University College
London), division chair of the Academy of Management OMT division, professor Davide Ravasi (University College London), past division chair of the Academy of Management OMT division and professor Eva Boxenbaum (Copenhagen Business School), division chair elect of the Academy of Management OMT division will illustrate, discuss, and give advice for each of these issues, as well as explain their importance in the review and editorial process in top academic journals. Additionally, participants will able to participate within the roundtable discussion getting the feedback on their extended abstract or papers they would like to submit to a specific journal.
