MedILS Bioinformatics School in Transcriptomics Datum događanja: 25.10.2021. - 29.10.2021. Export event We invite participants enthusiastic about science, new technologies, biology, big data analysis, and those curious to learn new things. The School will introduce participants to the latest advances in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and most commonly used bioinformatics tools and methods to analyse transcriptomics data. Hands-on sessions will give participants the opportunity to reinforce the analysis concepts they learned and work on practical examples, focusing on RNA-seq data analysis. The participants will also have a chance to get advice related to their own research questions during the last day’s Q&A session. During this School you will: Learn the basics of next-generation sequencing (NGS) Understand the basics of NGS analysis, data formats, data repositories and genome browsers Compare different gene expression technologies (RNA-Seq vs Microarray) Use web-based Galaxy platform for RNA-Seq data analysis Perform downstream analyses (clustering, classification, and other machine learning approaches) on differentially expressed genes When: October 25 – 29, 2021 Where: Mediterranean Institute for Life Sciences (MedILS), Split, Croatia Target group: Young researchers (Master students, PhD students, postdocs), but experienced researchers are also welcome! The School is intended for participants with no or limited prior experience in computational biology/bioinformatics. Eligibility: Participants must submit a motivational statement describing their current research interests and how they think they would benefit from this School. Requirements: Participants should have a good understanding of molecular biology concepts. Participants should be proficient in English. Participants are required to bring their own laptops. No prior computational experience is required. Organizers: Maja Kuzman, PhD (Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, Croatia) Andrea Gelemanović, PhD (MedILS, Split, Croatia) Lecturers: Prof. Damjana Rozman, PhD (Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia) Prof. Kristian Vlahoviček, PhD (Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, Croatia) Assist.
